Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, including accounts receivable and accounts payable staff.
Oversee the accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, and tenant account reconciliations, to ensure timely and accurate recording of revenue.
Manage the accounts payable function, including vendor payments, expense tracking, and reconciliation of accounts, to maintain accurate records of liabilities.
Review and approve journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and other accounting transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights into business performance and support strategic decision-making.
Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency, mitigate risks, and safeguard company assets.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and property management, to streamline processes and improve financial performance.
Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and accounting standards to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous learning.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory ormanagerial role, preferably in the real estate industry.
In-depth knowledge of real estate accounting principles, including lease accounting, property management, and construction accounting.
Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
