Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and mentor a team of accounting professionals, including accounts receivable and accounts payable staff.
  • Oversee the accounts receivable process, including invoicing, collections, and tenant account reconciliations, to ensure timely and accurate recording of revenue.
  • Manage the accounts payable function, including vendor payments, expense tracking, and reconciliation of accounts, to maintain accurate records of liabilities.
  • Review and approve journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and other accounting transactions to ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights into business performance and support strategic decision-making.
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance efficiency, mitigate risks, and safeguard company assets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, and property management, to streamline processes and improve financial performance.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and accounting standards to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous learning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • 7 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory ormanagerial role, preferably in the real estate industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of real estate accounting principles, including lease accounting, property management, and construction accounting.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to analyze complex issues, identify solutions, and drive results.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, integrity, and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
