NSF is looking for an in-house
Corporate Counsel to advise and counsel global NSF business leaders on the legal, risk, and compliance aspects of a wide variety of business issues. The position will review and develop legal agreements and complex strategic transactions recommending strategies and solutions regarding business issues. The position will advise on employment law, intellectual property, real estate, and assist the Deputy General Counsel on other legal matters. The position reports to the Deputy General Counsel and will be based in the APAC region, handling global matters with the support of the internal Legal Department and outside legal counsel.
Key Job Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To
- Provide legal advice on a variety of global business initiatives, policies, and internal compliance issues ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
- Assist in directing global legal affairs, referring to and coordinating with global outside legal counsel as required.
- Assist in achieving corporate objectives by providing analysis and guidance on global projects and transactions.
- Review, negotiate, and draft legal agreements.
- Distribute necessary legal agreements to global NSF customer, supplier, and independent contractor base.
- Assist with the compliance of intellectual property protection, licensing, and enforcement.
- Support merger and acquisition activity.
- Support on litigation and dispute resolution matters, providing senior management with counsel regarding litigation brought by and against NSF.
- Support the Quality, Compliance and Risk teams on initiatives, local implementation and enforcement.
- Support other projects as requested from time to time by the Deputy General Counsel.
- Work closely and collaboratively with other members of Legal Department Chief Legal Officer, Corporate Counsel, Legal Operations Manager and others to develop and implement key legal processes and systems corporate wide.
Qualifications
- Approximately five to seven years of legal experience, preferably including two or more years of in-house legal experience.
- Equivalent of a J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
- Admitted to practice law, and in good standing, in applicable jurisdiction.
- Experience working in a global company.
- Employment law experience preferred, including internal investigations.
- Broad-based experience and ability to exercise legal judgment on a variety of issues including experience with a variety of legal agreements, labor and employment matters, and support of business initiatives.
- Experience with complex transactional matters, including ability to draft and negotiate unique legal agreements to serve business needs and limit enterprise risk.
- Proven ability to work successfully in a fast-paced legal department i.e., highly organized self- starter with ability to juggle multiple projects and deadlines with little supervision.
- Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and influencing abilities.
- Excellent communication skills - presentation, written, and verbal.
- Unwavering ethical standards.
- Ability to work within the department and cross-functionally across the organization and geographies.
- Foreign language skills preferred
- Ability to travel internationally to other NSF locations on occasion.
