As the Country Manager for Thailand, you will be at the forefront of driving and developing our business in the Thai market. Reporting to the Senior Country Manager you will manage the Business Development department, consisting of a team of about 10 full-time employees. Your leadership will be crucial in executing long-term business strategies based on data insights, market research, and competitive analysis. This role demands a strong focus on results, strategic thinking, data driven decisions and team management in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Drive and develop business initiatives to expand market presence in Thailand, focusing on incremental supply, revenue growth, and GMV
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage the BD team, fostering a culture of high performance, data driven decision making and accountability
- Financial Oversight: Check and approve payments; participate in forecasting and budget planning to ensure financial and operational targets are met
- Market Analysis: Conduct thorough market research and competitive analysis to recommend strategic decisions and optimize business development efforts
- Partnership Management: Maintain relationships with existing business partners while proactively seeking new opportunities with local transportation providers (e.g., bus companies, airlines, ferry operators)
- Reporting: Monitor performance metrics and provide regular updates to the senior management; engage in weekly and monthly online/offline meetings with the head office and other department managers
- Travel Requirements: Expect to travel within Thailand once a month / three times a quarter, with occasional work on public holidays in peak season
Requirements
- Experience: Proven track record as a Senior Business Development Manager or in a similar leadership role, with experience in executing successful business development strategies. Background in data analysis, business analysis, or product management is a plus
- Industry Background: Significant experience in the travel and hospitality sectors, logistics, transportation, travel tech, e-commerce, or related industries
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation, familiarity with SQL and CRM systems. Experience with emerging technologies in travel (e.g., AI, machine learning) is advantageous
- Languages: Proficiency in English is essential. Knowledge of Lao, Cambodian, Burmese, Malaysian, or other languages is a plus
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities with demonstrated experience in team management, mentoring, and driving growth initiatives
- Analytical Thinking: Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to derive actionable insights from data to make strategic decisions
- Sales and Negotiation Skills: Proven abilities in sales and negotiation, particularly in building and maintaining relationships with business partners
