Job Description - DCDP - Pastry
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Pastry Chef or Head Baker in the preparation and production of baked goods, pastries, and desserts according to standardized recipes and specifications.
- Execute pastry and baking tasks assigned by the Pastry Chef or senior kitchen staff, including ingredient preparation, dough making, baking, and decorating.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the pastry and baking section of the kitchen, including workstations, equipment, and storage areas, following sanitation and safety guidelines.
- Follow recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards to ensure consistency in the quality and appearance of baked goods and pastries.
- Monitor baking times and temperatures, making adjustments as needed to ensure that products are baked to the correct texture and doneness.
- Assist in inventory management tasks, including stock rotation, ordering, and receiving of ingredients and supplies for the pastry and baking department.
- Support kitchen staff during service periods, helping to fulfill orders, plate desserts, and maintain production flow.
- Participate in menu planning and development, contributing ideas for new pastry and dessert offerings, seasonal specials, and menu enhancements.
- Adhere to kitchen procedures, policies, and standards, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations and industry best practices.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Demi Chef de Partie or similar role in a professional pastry or baking environment.
- Strong understanding of pastry and baking techniques, including dough making, shaping, proofing, and baking.
- Creative flair and artistic skills, with the ability to decorate and present baked goods and pastries in an attractive and appealing manner.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, with a commitment to maintaining a clean and hygienic baking environment.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
