BBC News Vietnamese brings quality, impartial, original journalism to Vietnamese speaking audiences around the world on digital. Its multimedia content, available on www.bbc.com/vietnamese and on social media platforms, reaches 2.7 million people on a weekly basis.
We are looking for a talented and experienced journalist to join BBC News Vietnamese. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in journalism, with published works in the Vietnamese media, and an in-depth understanding of Vietnam's society, politics, and economy. Strong connections within Vietnam are essential.
Main responsibilities
Multimedia Reporting: Produce content across all platforms, with a primary focus on digital. This includes originating, researching, reporting, and producing multimedia journalism.
Writing & Translation: Demonstrate excellent Vietnamese language skills. Translate and adapt English content into Vietnamese, maintaining the highest level of linguistic and editorial quality.
Content Creation: Develop analyses, features, and interviews. Write scripts for online videos, and create engaging digital video content for our website and social media platforms.
Editorial Contribution: Pitch story ideas, suggest new angles on ongoing stories, and contribute actively to the editorial planning process.
Research & Production: Conduct research, source contributors and interviewees, and manage the editorial workflow to ensure that content meets BBC standards for accuracy, impartiality, and fairness.
Content Updating: Monitor, update, and revise stories as they develop, ensuring they remain fresh and relevant. Adapt content for various platforms as needed.
Are you the right candidate
You Will Have Proven Experience In Journalism With a Track Record Of Published Works In Reputable Vietnamese Media Outlets. In Addition
- Deep understanding of Vietnam's news, politics, culture, and social issues.
- Strong writing and translation skills in both Vietnamese and English.
- Ability to produce engaging and accurate content under tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in using digital tools and creating multimedia content.
- A creative mindset and familiarity with digital journalism trends and audience engagement strategies.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, international news environment is a plus.
- Preferred Skills:
- Data-driven approach to evaluating audience behaviours and online trends.
- Familiarity with digital analytics and social media insights to shape content strategy.
