POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, cost estimating, inventory, and general accounting. Administers and interprets accounting policies.Responsible for audit of systems and reports. Compiles and analyzes financial and statistical statements. Revises and installs procedures, accounting systems, and accounting standards as required. Lead contact for plant in statutory and corporate audit process.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
BS in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field with a minimum of 8 years of directly related experience, showing a progression of increased financial and management responsibilities. CPA or MBA preferred. Previous supervisory experience required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Directs the organization's accounting functions.
2. Establishes and maintains accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives.
3. Modifies chart of accounts, cost systems, and other practices to ensure efficient operation.
4. Prepares special financial and statistical reports.
5. Prepares statistics for periodic and yearly financial statements in accordance with corporate and/or group policies. Presents findings and recommendations to top management.
6. Reviews the inventory control systems and procedures to assure optimum controls and efficiencies are in place.
7. Directs the correct and accurate accounting classification of all expenditures.
8. Reviews and certifies vouchers for payment.
9. Provides direction to accounting staff.
10. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Thorough knowledge of principles of general accounting, budgeting, cost accounting, and inventory control as well as financial planning and analysis exposure.
2. Experience with forecasting and preparation/analysis of monthly and year to date budget to actual performance reporting.
3. Previous financial system start-up and Oracle ERP/Financials experience preferred.
4. Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency required.
5. Ability to pay close attention to detail.
6. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties will be performed in a standard office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to work weekends, holidays, be on call, and travel overnight on occasion.
