Job Description

Position Overview: The Head of IT Strategy is responsible for shaping and executing the organization's technology strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals while driving innovation, operational efficiency, and service excellence. This role involves managing key transformation initiatives, overseeing IT service performance, and coordinating across various departments to ensure that IT capabilities meet current and future needs. The Head of IT Strategy will play a pivotal role in identifying technology opportunities and ensuring successful delivery of strategic IT initiatives.

Focus Areas:

  • Define target technology capabilities based on current gaps and anticipated future needs.
  • Identify and prioritize key technology themes and areas for IT transformation and innovation.
  • Develop detailed roadmaps, action plans, and timelines for each initiative to ensure clear direction and accountability.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Identify and exploit value creation opportunities by combining business insights with emerging or existing technologies.
  • Champion continuous improvement within the IT organization by seeking new opportunities or optimizing existing processes and technologies.
  • Translate business strategy into a technology strategy, ensuring that IT capabilities meet the evolving needs of the organization.
  • Collaborate with business and IT teams to gather inputs, ensure alignment, and articulate a clear, actionable technology strategy.
  • Align IT investments and budgetary requirements with the strategic priorities and initiatives of the organization.
  • Monitor the execution progress of technology initiatives, regularly refreshing the strategy to reflect shifts in business priorities or underperforming projects.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Technology Vision and Strategy Development

  • Develop and lead the implementation of the ttb Technology Strategy, focusing on short- to medium-term transformation themes and priorities.
  • Ensure the strategy addresses IT capability improvements across both perform (operational) and transform (innovative) activities.
  • Define cross-functional dependencies across teams such as CIO, Spark, and ttba to ensure cohesive delivery of technology solutions (e.g., scalable IT infrastructure and modernized applications for enhanced data management).
  • Create and manage the technology roadmap, defining key initiatives for each priority area, outlining high-level timelines, activities, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
  • Regularly monitor and refresh the technology strategy, at least quarterly, to ensure its relevance and adaptability to ongoing organizational needs.

2. Service Performance Management

  • Align IT service performance metrics with business requirements and Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Enhance service performance visibility by incorporating additional metrics like Response Time and Recovery Success Rate to ensure a holistic view of IT service quality.
  • Extend Business Impact Analysis (BIA) coverage to IT-owned applications, refining the scope of BIA and critical platforms to prioritize customer impact and service continuity.

3. Integrated Technology Strategy and Innovation

  • Develop an integrated Business-IT strategy and roadmap that leverages emerging technologies and innovation to meet business objectives.
  • Enhance the existing technology strategy by incorporating IT-wide priorities, with a detailed roadmap of initiatives, time-based milestones, and immediate action plans.
  • Introduce a structured innovation capability within the IT department, identifying, assessing, and supporting innovation opportunities, proof-of-concepts, and the roll-out of feasible initiatives.

4. Portfolio & Project Management

  • Prioritize, manage, and track the delivery of IT products and services within defined constraints, ensuring alignment with overall portfolios.
  • Implement and optimize a Project Portfolio Management (PPM) tool to automate and manage demand, portfolios, projects, and resources. Ensure that all IT demand types (e.g., SSEs and change requests) are captured for comprehensive demand management.
  • Refine existing processes and roles to maximize the effectiveness of the PPM tool in improving overall project and portfolio management.

5. IT Performance & Control

  • Capture, track, and analyze technology performance data to drive continuous improvement in IT services and operations.
  • Ensure comprehensive visibility of IT performance through IT Balanced Scorecards, tracking leading and lagging indicators such as availability, capacity utilization, and operational effectiveness.
  • Operationalize a data governance function with a clear mandate, establishing a rollout plan for effective governance across IT systems and data assets.

6. IT Talent Management

  • Manage the supply and demand of IT talent through workforce development programs and external sourcing solutions.
  • Enhance the HR competency framework by aligning role-based proficiency with career levels, certifications, and learning pathways.
  • Develop and implement a career pathway model, focusing on technology-centric roles that provide structured growth and development opportunities for IT staff.
