Purpose of role:
Drive Blackmores business results and brand image with flawless execution of marketing plans and NPD launches supported by thorough research. Lead the marketing strategic direction in positioning the Blackmores brand as the leader in providing superior health solutions to our consumers and ensuring an optimized consumer journey across each touchpoint.
Responsibilities include:
Marketing Direction and Strategic Thinking
- Direct the activities of Marketing for the achievement of business objectives, increased profit and market share
- Establish and co-ordinate the Marketing objectives and programmes within the context of the overall corporate plan and, where appropriate, recommend standards and set targets
- Manage marketing implementation through the planning and running of advertising campaigns (consumers, health professionals and trade) promotional activities, product management and market analysis and research
- Direct the development of initiatives such as new marketing techniques and new advertising campaigns and ensure the cross functional contribution
- Ongoing analysis of marketing campaigns (Post Campaign Analysis) and communication of results to the business as required
- Ensure all the activities of the Sales and Marketing groups comply with relevant acts, legal requirements and ethical standards
Projects and Product Development Efficiency
- Oversee projects with cross functional team on agreed projects
- Oversee NPD projects and monitor status and priority with key stakeholders
- Develop an environment which fosters the successful running of projects
- Identify and communicate project risks as they occur to relevant stakeholders for resolution
- Oversee local NPD process to achieve project objectives
- Oversee projects from kick-off to launch to the market
- Build NPD launched into ongoing marketing program as appropriate
Industry Engagement
- Maintain necessary contact with major suppliers, key retailers, industry associations and government representatives to achieve the objectives of the company
- Manage relationships: creative and media buying agencies, promotional agency, sponsorships
- Maintain good relationship with AustCham/ Austrade and other agencies to achieve business objectives
Driving Sales Effort
- Ensure market intelligence is received and analysed so that opportunities may be capitalised on as they occur, and the effects of competitor activity minimised
- Collate and present ongoing Marketing plans monthly (as required) to sales team
Team Leadership
- Demonstrate strong leadership and promote the values, image and role of Blackmores to all team members; demonstrate behaviours consistent with company values
- Coach and lead the marketing team to ensure the deliverables are consistent with the expectations both internal and external stakeholders
- Review performance the team performance, guide and motivate (including selections of training) to the team to work towards the objective
- Establish lines of control and ensure clear job responsibilities
- Take accountability for delivering results
Financial Management and Administration
- Regularly provide update and insight to Country Manager summarising key achievements and issues for the department
- Participate in Budget preparation for respective area
- Monitor and review performance against budget and forecast, and instigate remedial action to minimise adverse variances
- Manage compliance with all legal, statutory and corporate requirements (e.g. FDA) and ethical standards; manage exposure in these areas
- Develop and follow policies, procedures and controls to assist in the achievement of Marketing objectives and profit targets
Who are you
- 15+ years of relevant commercial experience in health and/or consumer goods ideally gained in a multinational / matrixed structure.
- Proven ability to work across cultures to achieve outcomes.
- A deep belief in the Natural Health industry
- Strong track record of leading functionally and/or geographically diverse teams; in addition, experience leading through influence and indirect, agile teams.
- Strong track record of delivering consumer facing NPD and marketing campaigns, demonstrating strong project management skills.
- Strong working knowledge of business financials, demand, and product development
- Experience developing or delivering a marketing efficiency and effectiveness curriculum with a focus on delivering ROI and building capability.
- Well-developed people leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to grow a high performing team.
- Strong strategic thinking and executional skills, capable of building for simplicity, scale and repeatability
- A team player with strong skills in the areas of influencing, motivation, relationship building, and communication.
- A builder who is comfortable rolling up their sleeves to drive to an outcome.
- Thrives in a dynamic environment and able to work on various projects simultaneously, requiring strong organizational and time management skills.
