Tasks
- Recipe Development: Utilize your expertise in food science to create and optimize beverage formulations that align with our brand vision and consumer preferences. Experiment with various ingredients, flavors, and processing techniques to achieve desired taste profiles and product stability.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing and analysis of raw materials, intermediate products, and finished beverages to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality standards. Implement corrective actions as needed to address any deviations and continuously improve product quality.
- Research and Innovation: Stay abreast of industry trends, scientific advancements, and emerging ingredients to drive innovation and differentiation within our product portfolio. Collaborate with suppliers and research partners to explore novel ingredients and technologies that offer competitive advantages.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of formulation iterations, experimental protocols, and analytical results. Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and project updates to internal stakeholders.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues from various departments, including marketing, operations, and regulatory affairs, to ensure seamless integration of product development activities with overall business objectives. Collaborate on cross-functional projects to support company-wide initiatives and goals.
- Developing Sanitation Procedures: Food scientists are responsible for developing comprehensive sanitation procedures tailored to the specific requirements of the bottling plant. This includes specifying cleaning agents, sanitizers, cleaning frequencies, and sanitation methods to effectively remove dirt, debris, and microbial contaminants from equipment and surfaces.
- Microbiological Monitoring: Food scientists conduct regular microbiological testing and monitoring to assess the effectiveness of sanitation procedures and identify potential sources of contamination. They analyze swab samples from equipment surfaces, production areas, and packaging materials to detect the presence of harmful microorganisms and ensure compliance with microbiological safety standards.
- HACCP Implementation: Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) is a systematic approach to identifying and controlling food safety hazards. Food scientists lead the implementation of HACCP principles in the bottling plant, conducting hazard analyses, identifying critical control points, and establishing monitoring procedures to prevent contamination risks at each stage of the bottling process.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and food processing principles.
- Hands-on experience with beverage formulation, pilot-scale production, and sensory evaluation preferred.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, data analysis software, and statistical methods.
