Why Does This Job Exist
The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager plays a vital role in instilling a culture of safety and environmental stewardship at Kellanova. This role requires deep understanding of Thai regulations, risk management strategies, and safety procedures that will be crucial in ensuring our operations are compliant with local and national laws.
The EHS Manager provides leadership and technical expertise to achieve the plant EHS goals and provides direction and coaching to enhance and sustain a positive safety culture at all levels of the organization.
The role is based out of Kellanovas Chon Buri plant in Thailand.
Reporting
Who will be your key stakeholders:
- The EHS Manager reports to the Plant Director
- Supervises the EHS supervisor and technicians and various service providers as needed.
Key Internal Contacts
- Internal peer relationships exist with Site Operations, Engineering, Quality & Food Safety, KWS, Human Resources, and other plant functions
- Peer relationships also include the AMEA Regional EHS Director, other Kellanova plant/corporate EHS professionals
Key External Contacts
- External relationships include Regulators, Local Government, Industrial estate representatives, Fire Department & Emergency Services Providers, suppliers etc.
A Taste Of What Youll Be Doing
- Develop and implement programs to ensure plant operates in compliance with local Environmental, Health and Safety regulations and Kellanova policies and standards.
- Develop an EHS strategy for the site and annual plan aligned with Global Kellanova EHS roadmap and sustainability commitments.
- Lead the site EHS COE that is aimed at continuously improving performance and develop leveraging Kellanova Work System (KWS).
- Partner with Regional and Corporate EHS leads to implement corporate EHS audit program requirements, ensure audit findings are resolved and closed in line with the audit recommendations.
- Be the Technical expert and understand all relevant plant environmental permits. Ensure timely and accurate submission of initial applications, renewals and changes to permits as necessary
- Interface with regulatory authorities as appropriate and ensure accurate and timely EHS recordkeeping and document management including the submission of reports to regulatory agencies and KAMEA EHS regional lead team.
- Provide training and development coaching for managers, on-shift safety leaders, new employees, and department staff
- Leads the development, review, and implementation of site emergency programs (e.g., facilitate site level drills)
- Assist and/or lead emergency response and reporting activities following spills and releases.
- Lead investigations safety and environmental incidents and participate in management review of all serious incidents.
- Participate in Process Safety Audits, Process Hazard Analyses and other elements of Process Safety integral to site EHS performance
- Prioritize identification of major hazards and risks in the plant and ensure actions are taken to mitigate or eliminate risks.
- Lead the development, review, and revision of safety and environmental training programs; Train associates on requirements and procedures for EHS compliance
- Develop & lead on site contractor management program including condition audits, performance reviews and regulatory audits.
- Track, report, and analyze EHS performance and implement corrective action as necessary
- Keep up to date on current local legislation, regulation changes
- Manage site security programs and systems.
- Work with maintenance team to ensure Wastewater Treatment Plant is operated and maintained to ensure effluent in compliance with IEAT Industrial discharge permit.
- Conduct regular reviews with site leadership and prioritize EHS issues
- Lead the coordination and implementation of EHS site projects
- Manage the on-site health clinic in line with the requirement of regulation
- Keep update and maintain the ISO14001 & ISO45001 and external audit such Disney, Costco
How Will The Work Environment Be Like
- Must be able to handle crisis professionally. It may involve working in confined spaces and/or high places. The role requires contact and communication with government agencies, non-government organizations (NGOs) and the community, communication with senior management, Company legal department and Corporate Affairs.
- Requires effective interpersonal communications and interaction with 500+ hourly technicians and salaried employees in order to maintain an effective EHS culture and awareness.
- Formulate and oversee budgetary plans for the administration of environmental, health, and safety protocols in the plant
- This position may require work coverage beyond the normal hours and on weekends/holidays or emergency situations.
Were Looking For Someone Who
- has a bachelors degree in engineering or in environment, health, safety or a related field of equivalent standing
- has 10+ years of experience in the environmental, health, & safety role with at least 3-4 years leading the EHS function at a manufacturing site
- is trained in Fire Protection Systems, Technical Safety Systems, Industrial Hygiene Programs, OSHA regs, Environmental Compliance.
- has thorough knowledge of safety and environmental regulations including but not limited to: air, wastewater, storm water, solid and hazardous waste, Energy and water supply regulations.
- possess strong leadership, training, problem solving, and decision-making skills with ability to organize and prioritize
- is fluent in both English and Thai, and be able to effectively communicate EHS policies and procedures to all levels of the organization
