Job Description

St Andrews International School Bangkok is one of 80+ schools in the Nord Anglia Education (NAE) family. We offer a British educational curriculum with an international perspective that begins in Nursery and leads up to IGCSE examinations in Year 11, and culminates with the International Baccalaureate Diploma after completing Year 13. Music High-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Job Purpose

The High-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for Music plays an essential role in supporting the Music Department and inspiring a love of music in students. In this role, you will work closely with teachers to deliver individual, small-group, and classroom instruction, contributing to the department's success and promoting students overall well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Instructional Support
  • Collaborate with the Music Department to deliver engaging and effective lessons, rehearsals, and extracurricular programs.
  • Assist in designing and implementing a high-quality music curriculum aligned with departmental goals.
  • Participate in initiatives aimed at enhancing student achievement in music.
  • Provide individual, small-group, and classroom instruction, adapting lessons to meet diverse student needs and fostering a passion for music.
  • Support teachers in preparing well-resourced, safe, and successful lessons.
  • Help prepare lesson materials and maintain well-equipped classrooms.
  • Assist students in achieving their musical goals, whether in instrumental proficiency or broader musical understanding.
  • Assess student progress according to school and departmental grading policies.
  • Support school musical productions and organise opportunities for students to showcase their musical achievements.
  • Collaborate with the Music Department to develop a sustainable music program.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that values diversity.
  • Promote student well-being and contribute to a positive school culture.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of students, abiding by safeguarding standards.

Specific Responsibilities

Teach one or more of the following instrumental programs:

  • Strings
  • Woodwind
  • Brass

Design creative activities to encourage engagement, enhance self-esteem, and promote independence in students.

Build strong relationships with students, serving as a positive role model and responding effectively to individual needs.

  • Ability to work independently while recognizing when to escalate issues for resolution.

Desired Qualifications

University degree in Education or Music (BA Hons or equivalent) is preferred.
