Quantinuum is currently seeking a
Principal General Counsel Intellectual Property to join the team in
Broomfield, Colorado. In this role, you'll play a crucial part in shaping the company's intellectual property strategy and managing its patent portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the preparation and prosecution of patent applications both domestically and internationally.
- Negotiating IP-related provisions in commercial agreements and drafting related contracts.
- Leading the freedom to operate initiatives and tackling product clearance issues.
- Developing and pursuing IP enforcement strategies, as well as supporting IP defense tactics.
- Educating our team on IP protection and collaborating with scientific staff to identify key innovations.
- Guiding patent review and freedom to operate committees.
- Managing relationships with external legal counsel.
- Performing IP due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.
- Keeping tabs on the quantum sector for emerging trends and competitor activity.
You Must Have
- JD degree, with active membership in at least one state bar is required
- Must be admitted to practice (patent practitioner) before the United States Patent and Trademark Office
- Minimum 8+ years intellectual property legal experience required
- Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. person (defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status)
We Value
- Bachelor's degree in physics, Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred
- Experience with patents, trademarks, copyrights and open source
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills along with excellent business judgment and strategic thinking; keen interest in learning new technologies
- Broad experience working with patent, IT, commercial, software and technology licensing contracts
- Ability to work independently and directly with Senior Business and Executive Leadership on IP matters
- Ability to focus on diverse Intellectual Property projects with rapidly changing priorities
- Strong communications skills and executive presence
- Deliver on complex issues without guidance or supervision
- Experience in handing intellectual property transactions and IP litigation.
- Understanding on deliverables and timeframes
- Consistently make complex, timely decisions
