- Overall responsibilities and duties:
The Program Buyer is responsible for managing interface between program and suppliers, anticipating the specific requirements for new programs (supplier technologies, geographical location and target costs), and ensuring the commodity panel strategy is appropriate to support the program. The role selects and pilots suppliers from the agreed supplier panel in order to achieve Program objectives. The Program Buyer belongs to the program core team. Medium complexity programs (# of parts, spend, geographic scope, etc).
Role
The main missions of the role are:
- Ensure supplier selection from the agreed supplier panel: identify and consult suppliers, manages supplier RFQ based on panel given by the Commodity Buyers.
- Negotiate or participate with the Commodity Buyer in supplier negotiations and the final choice of supplier (leads sourcing committee process to select suppliers from list provided by commodity buyers)
- Follow direct performance during the program phase: manage suppliers, compare costs with objectives, ensure quality during the program phase, respect delivery deadlines and ensure that the program phase reviews are supported within the framework of the Faurecia Program Management System (PMS)
- Ensure early involvement of the Series Buyers in the program before the series phase
- Manage specific mandated suppliers when requested and agreed with customers
- Negotiate Engineering Change Requests
- Negotiate contracts with global suppliers in coordination with commodity buyers
- Contribute to the deployment of the Business Group commodity strategy through the serial and program sourcing activities in all regions
- Be responsible for the quality, cost and delivery (QCD) performance of the suppliers of his/her commodity and when necessary, support the corrective actions
- Sponsor the innovation through identification of breakthrough solutions from suppliers to generate competitive products for our customers
- Animate network and manage functionally the Commodity Managers & Buyers dedicated to the specific commodity
- Provide expertise, share and deploy best practices to commodity managers and buyers under their responsibility
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum education level: Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering or Business. ( Nice to have: Professional purchasing qualification )
- Experience: Minimum 5 to 10 years experience in Purchasing in an industrial environment, including a Program, Commodity buyer experience, and proven experience in a management role including a remote management experience
- Skills & Competencies:
- Knowledge of dedicated product design, development and launch processes
- Knowledge of supplier cost structures
- Deep understanding of business practices, market dynamics and trends
- Knowledge of Purchasing contractual and legal aspects
- Ability to formalize a global commodity strategy
- Good in English Communication
