Senior Leader, Data Scientist (Advanced Modeling)
(This position is equivalent to the AVP level with team management responsibilities)
Job Responsibilities:
- Leader of Advanced Modeling will be responsible for leading the Advanced Modeling team to deliver the analytical model, statistical model or machine learning to identify business opportunities or resolve business challenges. Work closely with business (such as marketing, sales, product team etc.), data engineer, or BI to shape the data science products and solutions.
- Lead, manage, and coach the team to deliver outcomes efficiently and in a timely manner.
- Strategically design the application of advanced analytics in business using design thinking methodologies, AI/ML-derived insights, and advanced modeling; establish an execution roadmap and ensure alignment with key stakeholders.
- Generate initiatives and new analytical ideas to create business opportunities.
- Be accountable for the successful delivery of advanced model initiatives and designs, ensuring development aligns with agreed quality standards and business targets.
- Attract and lead a team to gain valuable insights from advanced analytics and modeling, driving improved execution performance.
- Conduct large-scale data analysis and develop machine learning or statistical models for segmentation, classification, pattern recognition, optimization, and more on large and complex data sets.
- Develop, build, and test statistical and computational models that serve as key inputs for real-time contextual marketing tools.
- Identify business opportunities, provide actionable insights, and recommend data-driven strategies for marketing campaigns.
- Build collaborative, trust-based relationships with stakeholders, delivering impactful analysis and insights that align with business objectives.
- Work closely with BI and campaign operations functions to provide end-to-end analytical solutions, proactively creating and testing decision rules for marketing campaigns.
Qualifications:
- M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, data science, computer engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in analytics, modeling, or a related field, preferably in a mid-senior management role.
- Excellent analytical skills with a solid understanding of statistics and experimental design.
- Deep knowledge of statistical and predictive modeling, propensity models, machine-learning algorithms, and deep learning techniques.
- Full-stack experience in data understanding, collection, aggregation, analysis, visualization, production, and monitoring of ML products.
- Experience in data engineering and big data technologies (e.g., Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is a plus.
- Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from various sources.
- Strong ability to communicate complex analysis in a clear, simple, and actionable way.
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases, as well as analytical tools such as R, SAS, Python, or Matlab.
- Experience in the telecom industry is an advantage.
- Experience analyzing data from third-party providers (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, AdWords, etc.) is an advantage.
- Good command of English.
