Position Summary
To maximize sales and profitability according to Marriott Standard Operating Procedures within the Sales & Marketing Department and Event Management Section. To conduct all business practices according to Marriott's code of ethics.
To work with internal and external customers according to the other key goals of the company in terms of ensuring overall guest satisfaction and associate morale. Provides leadership towards achieving goals and maintaining team spirit.
Major Responsibilities:
- To be a role model through leadership by example
- To assist in accountability and responsibility for sales and product development of hotel wedding business.
- To exceed hotel wedding sales goal and shared responsibility for team members for achievement of total sales and catering budget. Derive creative upsell initiatives.
- Responsible for overall profitability of handling market/accounts. This involves resourcefulness in constantly sourcing for suppliers to maintaining high standards of quality in line with budgeted Cost of Sales and controllable expense.
- Sales administration. To be actively involved in ensuring prompt attention and follow-up on incoming phone calls, site inspections, proposals/inquiries. Accuracy in booking, commitments to customer on all sales/operational documents and adhering to the standards set by the department in execution and filing of all the said documents. To maintain daily activity and call reports.
- Maintain and keep relevant to office and Hotel computer systems.
- To be able to exercise yield management over catering space, average check.
- Build good rapport with customers and other hotel departments.
- To ensure higher profitability through up-selling
- Track and share information regarding new business trends.
- Keep track of the competitors regarding special promotions and rate packages.
- Actively involved in proactive marketing efforts such as competitor surveys, marketing sales initiatives, promotional events, action plan formulation and creative packaging for assigned market.
- To anticipate changing guest needs, market trends and competitor product development, sales and marketing and event delivery strategies. Actively share ideas, opinions and offer proactive contributions in a constructive manner.
- To impact Guest Satisfaction Survey with ideas to improve overall guest satisfaction in terms of banquet presentations and service both in sales and event delivery.
- To be a team player support of department goals, in sales and operation. Interdepartmental relations to be professional but not compromising customer satisfaction, revenue, profitability or associate morale of department/Hotel.
- Ensure that Marriott's SOP's and LSOP's are in place and adhered to.
- Exercise empowerment where necessary to facilitate decision making in relation to department and company goals.
- Communicate effectively to ensure that the sales function is carried out smoothly and commitments are met
- To take ownership of customer in areas from point of contact to after sales service. Investigate, identify shortfall and suggest action for recovery to ensure guest satisfaction and non-recurrence of issues in event of service recovery.
- Performs Sales and Marketing functions or related duties and special projects as assigned and directed by the Director Sales and Marketing.
- Dress in a manner which is conductive to a business environment whereby first impressions reflect on the hotel image.
