Senior Supervisor, HAMR Lifetime & Reliability

Job Description

As a HAMR Lifetime & Reliability Supervisor you will perform an essential function for developing Hard disk drive and HAMR technology through managing operator personnel who perform HAMR Lifetime testing, tribological testing and physical characterisation. This job will require you to Supervise and direct a team operators in a 24-7 shift model, also understanding operation of advanced testers and analysis of lifetime test and physical characterisation data. In this role you will be directly responsible for managing the personnel who operate Lifetime and Tribology component head testing at the Thailand head operations site. You are a self starter, and have essential management and organizational skills. You are skillful and experienced at hands-on tester operation and handling of delicate components. You have core skills on operation, maintenance and control of testers, data analysis and reporting. You should be proactive, driven and have a R&D and statistically orientated mindset.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage a team of Engineering Operator personnel that perform 24-7 operational tribology testing, assign job rota's, training needs, performance and career related tasks.
• Ensure all Tribology equipment and testers are available, operated without deviation from official procedures, are well maintained and meet contamination, ESD and safety/hazard requirements.
• Lead tester statistical process control and preventative maintenance activities per IMS/ISO standards, including tester utilization plan and downtime reduction.
• Be fully responsible for lab tidiness (6S) and cleanliness.
• Assist Operators, Technicians and Engineers to work on various tribometers and testers to characterise mechanical, electrical and magnetric performance and reliability of head designs and media pairings.
• Assist in coding, scripting, macros and setup of testers to enable the required testing and desired data output.
• Work closely with existing engineers on site and with worldwide teams to excute testing requirements and report evaluations.
• Assist with Helium gas cylinder changes.
• Other adhoc duties as assigned, including wider Development departmental tasks, IMS/ISO and team building events.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Materials / Tribology Engineering / Physics or related fields.
• A minimum of 2 - 5 years of experience in R&D / Industry or Academic Research / Testing / Characterization or related field.
• Experience with management of operator or technician personnel.
• Skilled in MS Office and generally computer literate.

PREFERRED:

• Experience with operation of tribometers and tribology related testers.
• Python, Matlab, JMP, Minitab, Visual Basic, MS Excel, VBA macro.

SKILLS:

• Experience with management of operator or technician personnel.
• Demonstrate a good level of English proficiency (written / verbal).
• Demonstrate a Fluent level of Thai proficiency (written / verbal).
• Demonstrated skills in tester setup and maintenance.
• Knowledge in the basic principles of equipment calibration.
• Tester operation.
• Able to follow test procedures.
• Able to train others on advanced methods, data analysis and report making.
• Skilled in MS Office and generally computer literate.
• Able to design experiments and organize workflows to give direction to tech and operator level.
• Able to make concise reports that summarize data and present these coherently to worldwide teams.
• Skillful and experienced at hands-on tester operation and handling of delicate components
