Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Warehouse Site Manager to lead the transition from our current warehouse to our new Distribution Centre that is currently in development. This role encompasses full responsibility for the implementation and operation of warehouse operations in the new DC, as well as, transportation, and distribution, activities including cold chain management. The manager will also oversee the setup of operational procedures, systems, and organizational structures, with a continuous focus on operational excellence, performance management, and innovation. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in temperature-controlled environments, item-level picking, warehouse technology, and SOP refinement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the seamless transition from the current warehouse operations to the New DC, overseeing operations, SOPs, systems, and staff.
  • Ensure the new warehouse is fully operational on time and within budget
  • Manage all warehouse operations (ambient and cold chain) including distribution and transportation.
  • Plan warehouse, transportation, procurement, and distribution activities and ensure alignment with company business policies.
  • Drive the operational strategy to maximize productivity and efficiency for the company and customers.
  • Oversee the management of transport operations to ensure cost-effective, high-quality service in compliance with local regulations.
  • Develop resource plans for peak seasonal periods to ensure service availability and meet demand.
  • Maintain a focus on continuous improvement to develop world-class standards in warehouse and transport operations.
  • Regularly review, update, and improve procedures, including warehouse, transport, and customs processes.
  • Drive innovation in SOPs, workflows, and overall operations, ensuring best-in-class practices are applied.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with customer managers, ensuring that objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with customers to ensure goods are delivered on time, in full, and in perfect condition, while continuously exceeding customer expectations.
  • Produce budget plans, resource and capital allocations, and ensure efficient operations through weekly performance analysis.
  • Forecast and manage expenditure within budget to ensure cost-effective operations.
  • Effectively utilize equipment and facilities for maximum operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health & Safety policies, legislative requirements, and internal safety procedures.
  • Review and address accidents/incidents to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce environmental impact through energy conservation and waste reduction.
  • Build, coach, and develop a high-performing team to achieve company goals.
  • Ensure team effectiveness by maintaining action plans and progress checks.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching to improve operational standards and performance across distribution operations.
  • Create operating plans to ensure customer orders are processed and delivered on time, at least cost, and in full.
  • Manage all operating procedures to meet or exceed customer expectations while ensuring operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with staff and customers to minimize environmental impact by reducing energy usage and promoting waste reduction, reuse, and recycling initiatives.

Qualifications & Experiences:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Logistics Management or any related field.
  • At least 7 years working experience in warehouse and transport operations, within third party logistics services will be an advantage.
  • Excellent command in English language and knowledge of computer skills.
  • Familiar with FMCG or retail business.
  • Experience with warehouse systems and accountability for management accuracy of client's inventory.
  • Sound understanding of business, accounting, budgeting, and costing procedures.
  • Staff management including negotiation and communication skills.
  • Change management, leadership skills and customer service experience.
  • Good understanding of legislation applicable to the workplace and ability to act in accordance with (but not limited to) OH&S guidelines, duty of care responsibilities, chain of responsibility legislation, drug & alcohol policy, all company workplace policies.
  • Has the experience of start operations
  • Has a proven track record in managing cold chain
  • Has experience in managing multi customers on a shared facility
  • Strong technical knowledge of transportation operating methods and equipment requirements.
