Overview
Supplier Quality Engineer looks after supplier quality performance, manage supplier quality incident, collaborate with purchasing team in pursuing quality target e.g. supplier quality ppm, supplier quality incident. SQE takes responsible for both Intercompany and suppliers (both domestic and oversea suppliers)
THE ROLE Focusing, maintaining and improving supplier quality process and product. In addition to develop new supplier and assess the critical suppliers to ensure that no defect escape to Gates facility or even to Gates customers.
Your Responsibilities
The Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer's specific responsibilities will fall into 5 primary areas:
Accountability #1: Financial Performance
- Collaborate with cross functional team to drive the improvement of S&D (scrap and defect) to meet the company target as the S&D is the predominant percent in COPQ.
Accountability #2: Fix the core
- Lead to conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audit finding reports and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.
- Compliance and implementation with applicable company HSE policy, law & regulations, ISO14001 and ISO45001 management system.
- Compliance with company IATF16949 and ISO9001 requirements or latest revision to follow company procedure, working instruction and other registered documents in management systems.
- Compliance with HR policy, government regulation, employee handbook etc.
- Other tasks or duties as direct supervisor assigned.
Accountability #3:Accelerate Growth
- Work closely with cross functional team through APQP approach in order to develop new products or processes. Ensure all the related responsibilities are completed on time in line with customer / program schedule.
- Be part of project APQP teams to implement new products and processes.
Accountability #4:Operational Excellence
- Plan and execute the AQL = 0 approach to Gates Unitta (Thailand).
- Drive the organization to meet the program development (supplier PPAP).
- Identify top poor performance suppliers quarterly and set up plan to improve them.
- Implement
- eSP and SNAP system along with Purchasing team.
- eSP - used when a problem found in Gates customer or Gates process or there are some changes from suppliers.
- Work with supplier to smoothly convey changes in supplier without any impact on Gates factory through Engineering change process
- Come up with continuous improvement ideas to help improve and increase efficiency / productivity / reduce waste in our internal and external supplier processes
- Work with poor performance suppliers on supplier development plans to bring them up to higher standards, reduce non conformances, better quality and better performance / on time delivery
- Timely completion of CAPA/8D's assigned to you for issues from internal repeat / major issues with detailed root cause, corrective and preventive action and containment performed diligently.
- Train and support suppliers on various supplier quality systems, tools, processes and Gates supplier requirement
- Deploy Gates customer specific requirement to suppliers.
- Use a broad range of statistical techniques such as charting, capability studies and gauge R&R studies.
- Perform periodic process audits / gap assessments to address gaps and escapees in both Gates DC and supplier premises.
- Perform monthly review with suppliers on all their non-conformances and work with them on Root cause, Corrective action, Preventive Action.
- Work with the Gates factory plant QE's and inspectors on addressing issues found in the plant on supplier provided parts.
- Support Gates factory to achieve the GPS requirement.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, interact with technical personnel to determine product standards and develop work instruction and related documentation.
- Be part of project APQP teams to implement new products and processes.

Your Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering) or relevant field
- Proven experience in quality function at least 2 years
- Proficient in MS Office
- In depth understanding of quality control procedures and relevant legal standards
- Internal auditing certification is a strong advantage (IATF16949 or ISO9001)
- Well understanding in quality core tools
- Experience in OEM customers is a plus
- Understand CQI assessment
